Little Hops of Light Comfort Visits
Little Hops of Light
Comfort Visits for Children
Grieving Loss of a Beloved Pet
Helping little hearts through life's tender goodbyes.
Little Hops of Light: provides, family-centered comfort visits for children experiencing the anticipated or recent loss of a beloved animal. Through a calm, nurturing presence, faith-based encouragement, remembrance activities, and grief support, we help children honor their pet's life and navigate the journey of saying goodbye.
Our goal is not to rush grief away, but to create a safe space where children can remember, mourn, celebrate, and heal.

Our Mission
When a family loses a beloved pet, the days that follow can feel confusing and heavy—especially for little hearts experiencing grief for the first time. Mr. Flopsy Little Hops of Light Comfort Visits were created to gently support children and their families during this tender time.
These visits are calm, compassionate, and centered around love, remembrance, and the comforting presence of God’s care.

Because every beloved pet leaves a little light behind
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
Matthew 5:4

What is Included in a Little Hops of Light Comfort Visit
Each visit is thoughtfully guided and moves at the pace of the child. There is no rush—only space to feel, remember, and heal together.
Reading Mr. Flopsy: Little Hops of Light
We begin by sharing the story together. Mr. Flopsy gently helps children understand that it is okay to feel sad, okay to miss their special friend, and okay to hold onto love and memories that never fade. Through the idea of “little hops of light,” children are invited to notice gentle reminders of love, hope, and God’s presence all around them.
Sharing Memories
Children and families are invited to talk about their beloved pet—what they loved most, funny moments, favorite games, and special memories. This creates a safe space for storytelling, laughter, and tears, all of which are welcomed.
Creating a Memory Box
Together, we create a simple memory box filled with meaningful keepsakes such as photos, collar tags, drawings, and written memories. This becomes a special place where love is kept close and remembered.
Making a Memory Bracelet
Children can create a small bracelet with beads that represent their pet and the love they shared. Each bead becomes a symbol of remembrance, helping them carry their pet’s memory with them.
Prayer Card & Gentle Reflection
A simple, child-friendly prayer card is shared, reminding children that God is near to those who are hurting and that they are never alone. Families are invited into a quiet moment of reflection, prayer, or gratitude.
Relaxing Guided Imagery: Little Hops of Light
The visit closes with a gentle, calming guided imagery experience. Children are invited to imagine peaceful places filled with light, love, and comforting memories—where butterflies, sunshine, and happy moments become “little hops of light” reminding them that love is always with them.

For Parents
Parents often wonder:
• "How do I tell my child our rabbit is dying?"
• "What if my child asks difficult questions?"
• "How can I help them cope?"
• "Should my child be present during euthanasia?"
• "How do we honor our pet's life?"
Little Hops of Light provides guidance and support for these conversations, helping parents respond with honesty, compassion, and confidence.

There are also many other benefits that arise from being around the rabbits including:
-
Reduced Stress and Anxiety
-
Increased Feelings of Calm and Safety
-
Improved Emotional Regulation
-
Unconditional Companionship during challenging times
-
Positive Sensory Experiences through petting and holding
-
Bringing a Sense of Joy and God's Love to sad hearts
-
Positive Memories that will last a lifetime
Why Pet Loss Matters
For many children, the death of a beloved pet is their first experience with grief.
The loss of a rabbit may represent:
• The loss of a best friend
• The loss of a daily companion
• The loss of comfort and routine
• A child's first encounter with mortality
When children are supported through grief, they learn valuable lessons about love, empathy, resilience, remembrance, and healing.
Scripture for Comfort
“God is light: in him there is no darkness at all.”
1 John 1:5
