Testimonials

"We absolutely love this book! This is such a beautifully and touching story of how friendship and love are gifts from God. I love how it explains the process of grieving not just as sadness for a lost loved one but also as gratitude and a gift from God. “I can see her hops of light wherever I look” is such a lovely way to continue loving someone and being reminded of them after they’re gone. How perfectly timed since we are having discussions about our dog’s illness and trying to prepare Addie for her death. Beyond that though, it reminds me of my mom and the memories of her that live on and also all the ways I still see her impact in my life day after day.

I love the way Mrs. Cottontail's books provide an opportunity and a framework for talking about really important topics with kids. I was able to share my own experience of losing my mom in a new way with Addie and it even gave me a chance to tell her how she and I will always be connected even when God chooses to take me to heaven one day. I hope that is something that she will hide in her heart. It truly made such an impact and it’s something we will want to read again and again, especially during times of grief."

The Story Behind Mr. Flopsy, Little Hops of Light

For more than 25 years, I have had the privilege of working with children and families. Over the years, I have listened to countless stories of beloved dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and other cherished companions who became treasured members of the family.

Again and again, I noticed the same thing. When a beloved pet died, families were often left wondering what to say. Parents wanted to comfort their children, but they worried about finding the right words. Many children were experiencing their very first loss, and the sadness felt overwhelming for everyone.

As I listened to these stories, I realized there were very few resources created especially for young children that offered comfort, hope, and gentle faith-based encouragement.

But the inspiration for Mr. Flopsy: Little Hops of Light also came from my own heart.

Over the years, I have loved and said goodbye to many precious animal companions. Each one left paw prints on my heart and taught me something about love, loyalty, joy, and gratitude. Most recently, I experienced the loss of my very special dog, Huntley.

Huntley taught me so much. Through his unconditional love, faithful companionship, and the beautiful memories we shared, he reminded me that love is one of God's greatest gifts. Even after saying goodbye, I began to notice little reminders of love, hope, and God's presence all around me—these became my "Little Hops of Light."

From those experiences, Mr. Flopsy, Little Hops of Light was born—a gentle and loving rabbit whose mission is to help little hearts know that they are never alone. More than a story about loss, it is a story about love.

With love,
